Independent software developer · creator of ScoutPlatform
I build ScoutPlatform, a set of free exploration tools made from open geographic data. The idea is simple: the data needed to find a dog-friendly beach, a free parking spot, or a charger that actually fits your range is already public — it just is not usable. Each Scout app turns one slice of it into a map you can use without an account, a subscription, or a tracker.
BeachScout began with the idea of building a worldwide map useful to the naturist community, while also serving anyone looking for beaches and swimming places around the world. The others followed from the same approach applied to different questions.
Everything here is built and maintained by one person. The project is independent, community-oriented, and built with the goal of remaining free or inexpensive to use.
MountainScout and HeritageScout are planned.
The maps are built on OpenStreetMap data, contributed by volunteers and used under the ODbL licence. No accounts, no fees, and no tracking — the tools work without knowing who you are.
